Ordination…

All Churches throughout the world and from the very beginning have agreed that in order for men and women to be converted and to attain to everlasting life the ministry of Word and Sacrament was instituted and, moreover, was instituted by God Himself.

This is significant given the tendency for many in the Church today to regard ministry and order as secondary matters when the simple truth is that the Church could not long have existed without a ministry and that wherever the Church has existed there have been those who have been selected and set apart to occupy a ministerial office. All branches of the Christian Church are as one on this although they may differ greatly as to the nature of the ministry or how it should be constituted.

In the Anglican Church today, there are various positions about whether there should be male only priests. The Canons of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word make provision for men and women to be ordained as deacons and men to be ordained as priests.

Remember | Reflect | Pray

Today marks the 18th anniversary of the terror attacks on September 11, 2001. I invite each of you to pause, reflect and pray with me:

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure conduct. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. [BCP 2019]

Bishop Julian writes on the great gifts of the Anglican Church.
My own introduction to the Anglican Church came in 1968, when I was baptized. In the baptism liturgy, promises are made to bring up a child in the Christian faith and bring him or her to confirmation to declare his or her own faith.

Sunday June 30, 2019 is Gafcon Sunday.  The Gafcon movement is a global family of authentic Anglicans standing together to retain and restore the Bible to the heart of the Anglican Communion. Our mission is to guard the unchanging, transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ and to proclaim Him to the world. We are founded on the Bible, bound together by the Jerusalem Statement and Declaration of 2008, and led by a Primates Council, which represents the majority of the world’s Anglicans.
Mr. Mark Einselen from Church of the Ascension, IN writes of his participation at DISCIPLE 2019, the Provincial Assembly of the Anglican Church in North America.
Mrs. Christy Lafferty designed the new logo of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word.  Christy writes here about the design and the inspiration for the new logo.
